Get Your Sh*t Together is a sort-of self help guide to teach you how to stop worrying about what you should do, so you can finish what you need to do and start doing what you want to do. Sarah Knight also wrote The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck, which was a bestseller. I really want to read this one too, so will be checking this one out soon.
The book is a great balance of her life experience stories and advice. It has true steps rather being filled with whimsical advice. I actually feel like I know where to start, the steps I need to take and how to commit to each of my goals. I’ll be implementing a procrastination diary and a spending journal to get my goals done.
I think whenever I need a refresher, I’ll pick it up for a wee reminder that I can do this, so just do it.
The book is well paced, not too long and Sarah is very funny, so it makes it an enjoyable read or listen. I particularly loved the Alvin and the Chipmunks analogies.
I partly read the book, partly listened to the audiobook. The audiobook is narrated by the author, which makes it more interesting to me. It sounds so much more true coming from her own voice since she says it with more conviction that I could in my head while reading.
From topics like procrastination and time management to budgeting, the topics could be applied to almost anyone. She also discusses more serious topics like anxiety and mental health, which may also be relevant for many people. She even gives you the tools for dealing with people who don’t have their sh*t together when you have yours together, or almost. It’s a full circle guide.
I’d definitely recommend this to you for so many reasons, it’s a great read, an informative read, and a kick up the arse.
