Auckland Fair

Auckland Fair

I went along to the Auckland Fair today. It was full of awesome handmade crafts from great local people. I was actually surprised at how many people were still there since I didn’t get there ’til 2:30pm. There was even a line to get in. And then a slower line for EFTPOS because I didn’t think to get cash.

I actually forgot my memory card so I couldn’t use my camera, but any photos I took on my phone look like crap. So instead I thought I’d just share the things I bought. There were so many other things I would have loved to buy, but I had set myself a bit of a budget (which I went over) so I had to stop myself.

Good Vibes Only copper foil print  – Tales at Sea – $50.00

I loved this print as soon as I saw it on her site this week, so although I struggled to choose between the copper on white and the white on black, I’ll be adding this one to the art wall when I get a few more pieces.

Keychain – Pony Lane – $15.00

When I saw these, I just thought they were all so cute. They also had some with tassels, but I figured they might get a little gross and tangled when I biff them in my bag. Putting this on my keychain now.

Card Wallet – Cabin Supply – $45.00

Kenny carries two cards around in his backpack. He hats wallets since they’re too thick, but he’s always losing his cards. One of our friends has one like this, in fact it might even be by Cabin Supply, and when he saw it, he wanted one. Ergo, I got him this.

Necklace – Tangelo Tree Jewellery – $80.00

This was my first purchase of the afternoon. I had seen their jewellery on the Auckland Fair site and knew I needed to stop by, but these are absolutely stunning in person. They take her so much time and dedication to create too. I also didn’t realise at the time but it has a magnetic clasp, which is going to be so helpful putting it on. Pretty sure I’m gonna wear it tomorrow.

Bowl – Crafted – $20.00

I am so keen to have a hanging terrarium on our balcony. But since we’re in a rental, I decided on just buying the bowl for now, figuring out how I can hang it and making the actual terrarium, then buying the rope later. I’ll blog about creating the terrarium too, if you’re interested.

There were so many other great stands there, so I’m hoping to go to other craft fairs. I also got some business cards as I went around so that I can shop online too. However, I shopped so much this weekend and I’ve spent so much I definitely have to stop for at least the next month.

Here are a few of the bad pictures I took on my phone. I thought I would share them anyway.

  1. You found some great things! I especially love the necklace, it is gorgeous. I thought about going along but I couldn’t face the crowds yesterday. Think I will go next time though for sure as I really like finding stuff there that is unique. Always good to support handcraft as well!

    1. The necklace was my fave find too. I highly recommend going next time

  2. I really want a terrarium too! I was going to buy one at the fair but they didn’t have what I wanted. I love the idea of making one myself but I already have so many unfinished projects that I’m afraid this will just be another one of those.

    1. It wouldnt surprise me if it sits in it’s box til summer, but atleast i made the first step 🙂
